Resouce for Traveling Solo

For many of North America’s 85 million single adults, planning a vacation is at best tiresome and at worst too much of a hassle to bother. Going alone is scary and finding a companion is difficult. Furthermore, single supplement fees charged by tour and cruise companies often amount to the dollar that breaks the budget’s back.

As diverse in taste, lifestyle and interests as they are numerous, millions of adults need and want a wide choice of single-friendly travel options. Addressing these issues is the purpose of Connecting, a Vancouver-based, international network whose members communicate through a bimonthly newsletter.

Published six times a year, the 20-page newsletter offers tips and advice for going-alone adventures throughout the world, newsy items on single-friendly tours, cruises and soft-adventure holidays. Members participate directly with reader recommendations and trip reports, hospitality and advice exchange. And anyone looking for a travel companion may advertise free in Connecting.

Interested travelers can join the mailing list by sending $25US to Connecting, P.O. Box 29088, 1996 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6J 5C2, Canada. Or call for a subscription via Visa/MC: 1-800-557-1757. The cost includes a supplemental Single-Friendly Travel Directory, a resource of tips and contacts for hundreds of travel companies and travel-related organizations that help travelers avoid expensive single supplements. A $5.00 donation (refundable following membership) is charged for sample newsletters
