Late to Work
by Bruce McGovern
One day last year, my wife
and I were sitting in our mobile home in the retirement park in McAllen, killing
time until our next trip to Mexico the following week.
We were watching LA VIDA EN
UN ESPEJO, the TV Azteca novela which was very popular last year. In one scene,
Gabriela, the young woman who is the novia of Santiago, a much older man, was
frantic because her girlfriend had not come yet to take her to work, and she was
afraid she would be late to work.
I asked my wife, "How
on earth can you be late to work in Mexico?????"
