These are two of the nicest, most comfortable hotels in town. Rooms range from $35 to $40 a night.

Real de Catorce has one telephone: 2-37-33. The phone is answered by an operator from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. When calling to make a reservation at a hotel you must speak Spanish and give the number of rooms you want, the number of people in your party and the dates you want to reserve. Call back the next day to confirm.

Restaurants

Residents run a few, eclectic restaurants in Catorce serving a range of foods, from hamburgers and traditional Mexican dishes to gourmet Italian selections. We visited Eucalyptus (Italian) and Machrina’s (Mexican and hamburgers). Meson de La Abundancia is a newly opened hotel with a fine restaurant and bar. All restaurants are walking distance from the hotels. In fact, everything in Catorce is within walking distance.
